Vent: I finally stopped guessing at the grocery store and my bill dropped by $90
I used to walk into Kroger with no list and just grab whatever looked good, and my total was always around $260 for a family of three. Two months ago I started planning meals around whatever meat was marked down that morning instead of picking recipes first, and now I am averaging $170 per trip. The big change was buying two of the discounted packs and freezing one right away, which killed the midweek takeout runs. I also stopped shopping on Sundays because the markdowns are picked over by then, so I go Tuesday evenings instead. Does anyone else plan around the markdowns first, or do you stick to a list no matter what?
