My slow cooker died right before a big potluck at my apartment in Phoenix, so I had to improvise with a Dutch oven on the stove for 4 hours.

Has anyone else had a kitchen appliance fail right before a big meal, and what's your go-to backup plan for a cheap main dish?

My friend's oven died before Thanksgiving.

Ever think maybe the slow cooker did you a favor? That Dutch oven meal probably tasted way better than slow cooker stuff usually does.
