Just realized my expensive rice cooker was a waste of money

I spent about $80 on a fancy rice cooker with a bunch of settings because everyone said it was a game changer. In my experience, it just takes up counter space and my $10 pot from the thrift store makes rice just as well. I followed the instructions exactly, but the rice still stuck to the bottom sometimes. Has anyone else had a kitchen gadget that didn't live up to the hype for simple meals?

Honestly it's just rice, not a science project. My grandma made perfect rice in a dented pot for fifty years. Sometimes fancy gadgets overcomplicate things that work fine with basic tools. If your thrift store pot gets the job done, that's a win in my book. Save the counter space for something you'll actually use every day.

Right? My mom's old pot with the loose handle still makes the best rice. All these gadgets just add more steps and things to clean. Feels like companies invent problems so they can sell solutions. If the simple way works, why mess with it? That counter space is precious.
