That moment when your line snaps on a big brick run

Had my mason line break halfway through a 40 foot run on a garden wall last Friday. I was using some old nylon stuff from a bulk buy and it just gave out. What kind of line do you guys trust for long pulls?

Bro 40 feet on old nylon? That's asking for trouble. I only use braided polyester for anything over 20 feet now.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I've seen old nylon hold up fine if it's been stored right, carter.casey. People used it for everything back in the day without constant problems.

Well, I hung a porch swing for my neighbor last year with some old nylon rope he had in his shed. It looked fine, felt strong. Two months later it snapped clean through in the middle of a summer afternoon. Luckily no one was on it. That stuff gets brittle from the inside out, you can't always see it. I won't trust old nylon with any real weight or height anymore.
