Everyone says to soak bricks for a full day, but my crew in Dallas saw less mortar bond after 8 hours.

We tested it on a garden wall last month and the joints were weaker. Has anyone else cut soak time in hot weather?

Wait, really? So the longer soak actually made it worse in the heat?

Read somewhere that heat breaks down the enzymes faster. So yeah, longer soak in hot weather can backfire.

Found that out the hard way last summer.
