My orchid refused to bloom for three whole years and I almost gave up

I got this beautiful phalaenopsis as a gift in 2020 and it just sat there, growing leaves but no flower spike. I tried moving it to different windows, changing my watering schedule, and even used a special fertilizer my friend in Tampa recommended. The whole process took me until last month, when I finally saw a tiny bud after I started giving it a bigger temperature drop at night. Has anyone else had a plant that just tested your patience forever?

Exactly, like wesley181 said, they really do test you. I had a cattleya that just would not cooperate for almost five years. It felt like a personal insult every time it put out another leaf instead of a flower. That nighttime temperature trick was what finally worked for mine, too. It's amazing how such a small change can be the key after so much waiting.

Yeah, orchids will do that to you.

So you've had the same experience then? What kind of orchid finally broke you, or did you just give up on them completely after a certain point?
