My $40 moisture meter said my monstera was dry, so I drowned it at 2 AM
That thing flashed red for three straight days, turns out the probe was corroded from last winter. I flushed 2 gallons through the pot before checking the roots, has anyone else had one of those cheap meters just lie to you?
Cheap tools lying to us is like a whole thing in life. My bathroom scale does the same stuff, one day it adds five pounds for no reason and the next day I'm magically lighter. We just trust the little gadgets way too much.
