Just looked up how many houseplants the average person owns in the UK

Turns out it's like 8 per household according to a 2023 survey from the Royal Horticultural Society. I've got 34 in my flat alone, guess I'm way above average then huh?

33 plants and a dead cactus sounds about right for how we all overestimate our lives on social media.

34 plants and I still managed to kill a cactus last week, so my average is really more like a 50% survival rate if we're being honest.

Gotta say, I side eye these surveys a bit. They probably counted people who bought a single succulent last year and called it a day, not someone like you who's clearly gone full indoor jungle mode. 34 plants is a lot of watering and a lot of potential bug problems if you ask me. I've got maybe 5 and one of them is on its last leg because I keep forgetting to water it. But hey, if you're keeping them all alive and happy, more power to you, just seems like a lot of work for house decorations.
