Found a beat up copy of The Long Winter at a bus stop in Duluth, and now I want to move it along
I was waiting for the 16 bus near the depot in Duluth last Tuesday and someone had left a paperback on the bench with a note tucked inside that said "read me, then pass me on." It was The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder, cover falling off, 1 page torn out near the end. I read the whole thing in 3 nights and left it at a laundromat on Superior Street this morning with a new note. Now I kind of want to do this on purpose with other books, but I have no clue how to keep one going without it just getting tossed. Has anyone here ever done a traveling book thing that actually survived more than a couple of stops?
Did you write where it's been and where it's headed on the inside cover? Sharpen a pencil and put a little log page in the back so each person signs and dates it, that's the only thing that keeps a book moving instead of hitting a dumpster.
