Our book club spent 4 months arguing over whether the narrator in 'The Secret History' was reliable

We read it last fall and it completely derailed our usual discussions. One member insisted that Richard was lying about everything from the start, another thought he was just naive, and a third kept pointing to specific lines in chapter 7 as 'proof' of his bias. What started as a 30-minute chat turned into a massive email chain, then a shared Google Doc with highlighted passages. It ate up our meetings for months. We never even voted on our next book. Has any other group gotten stuck in a debate hole this deep? How do you move on when half the club is still mad about it?

Our group still has a shared doc too, @the_elizabeth, so I feel your pain lol.

Totally get it, @the_elizabeth. My group imploded over Gatsby.

Chapter seven is the most straightforward part of the whole book.
