DNFing a book mid-meeting, now I see the group's point
Last Thursday at our downtown library group, I argued hard for finishing every book, even bad ones. Then someone read a scene from the novel aloud and I realized I had skimmed half of it without absorbing anything. I finally admitted I'd basically already DNFed it mentally two weeks ago, I just didn't want to say so. Now I get why a few members quit page 50, sometimes the book fights you the whole way. Has anyone else had a debate flip on them because they heard a passage spoken out loud?

Used to be a finish-everything person too. Hearing it out loud made me realize I was just flipping pages, not reading. Changed my whole view on quitting early.
