Oh man, same! A brutal Monopoly fight at a friend's place taught me to just look up the rule right away. Saves so much time and arguing.

Agree with taylorellis, checking the book is the only move. Spencer8 has a point about bad rulebooks though. Sometimes you just have to make a house rule and move on. Staring at confusing text for an hour kills the fun. The goal is to play the game, not hold a court hearing.
