That $80 chain whip I bought was a complete waste
Everyone says to buy the Park Tool chain whip, but I got a cheap generic one off Amazon and it slipped on the first cassette I tried to remove. The teeth bent after maybe 3 uses. Has anyone else had bad luck with those budget tools?

My buddy stripped one of those cheap ones on his very first cassette too, said he learned his lesson the hard way.

Wait, he actually stripped it on the very first try? That takes some serious talent, @alicehernandez. Most people at least get through a few tapes before they wreck the drive gear. I guess some folks just have a gift.

Serious talent" is right. I had a buddy who thought he was hot stuff because he could thread a tape in under five seconds. First try on his dad's old stereo in the garage, he jammed the whole thing in sideways. Bent the head, snapped the belt, and left a pile of brown ribbon that looked like a dead squirrel. The smell of burnt plastic was something else. His dad still brings it up at Thanksgiving.
