I finally started using a torque wrench on carbon seatposts after a customer's complaint
A guy came back in last month saying his seat kept slipping, and when I checked it, I'd clearly overtightened the clamp and left a mark. He pointed it out and said 'you're gonna crush it.' I bought a basic 5Nm wrench the next day and now I use it on every carbon part. Anyone else have a specific torque value they swear by for seat clamps?

Man, that's smart. Something else I learned the hard way is that grease on the clamp bolts can mess with the torque reading big time. A little bit of lube on the threads changes the friction, so you might think you're at 5Nm but you're actually cranking way harder. I just use a tiny drop of blue loctite now instead, it keeps the setting honest.

Good move getting that wrench. I had the same wake-up call a while back. My go-to is 6Nm for most modern carbon seatposts, but you have to check the frame's own spec first. I've seen some as low as 4Nm and others up to 8. That little tool saves so much worry and damage.
