Hot take: Letting my niece help with flat fixes changed my whole approach
I always thought having family around during repairs would just distract me. But last week, my niece wanted to learn how to patch a tube. Showing her the steps made me realize I was using old methods that took longer. Ngl, now I keep it simpler and faster, which works better for both of us.

I get the idea that simplifying for others makes it easier for you, but I see it differently. Sometimes the "simple" way skips steps that actually matter for doing it right. Like with tire patches, a faster method might not seal as well and just fails again in a week. The old slower way often exists for a reason.

Tried to explain how to put together some furniture to my cousin last week. My "simple" method took twice as long and we had three extra screws left over.

Not gonna lie, that moment when teaching someone shows you your own way is the long way around? Happens more than you'd think. Simplifying for others always ends up making things easier for me too.
