Found a cheap way to fix squeaky pedals without replacing them

I had this annoying squeak coming from my left pedal that drove me crazy for like 2 weeks. Tried greasing the spindle but it didn't help at all. Then I remembered an old trick from a forum where you spray a little WD-40 into the pedal body where the bearings are. Worked like a charm and saved me $40 on new pedals. Has anyone else tried this or got a better method for silent pedals?

logan_young29 said "it totally shut them up" - and yeah, WD-40 can fix a squeak for a bit, but that's a bandaid, not a fix. The thing is, WD-40 is a solvent, not a lubricant, so it'll clean out whatever grease is still in there. Then your bearings are running dry and they'll die way faster. I've seen it happen to a buddy's pedals - quiet for a week, then louder than ever and the pedal started wobbling. A proper bearing grease job takes maybe 15 minutes and costs like five bucks for a tube that'll last you years. I'd rather do it right once than spray something on there every few months and end up replacing the pedals anyway because the bearings got chewed up.

Man, I used to be all about just buying new pedals the second they got squeaky. Seriously, I figured it was just wear and tear and you had to replace em. But then my buddy told me to just hit the bearings with some WD-40 and I thought no way that'll work. I tried it on my old set that were driving me nuts and it totally shut them up. Honestly changed my whole view on bike maintenance. It's not always about throwing money at the problem.

Dude, same here. I used to just trash everything the second it made a noise. I replaced a perfectly good set of pedals like two years ago just because they started clicking. Then my neighbor laughed at me and sprayed some WD-40 on them in front of me. I felt like an idiot. Now I try to fix stuff before I buy new, and I've saved a ton of money. It's like people forget a little basic maintenance can keep stuff running for years.
