Caught a seized bolt on a mountain bike trailside with zero tools

Was out on a rocky trail near Boulder last Saturday when my bottom bracket started creaking like crazy, figured it was just loose but the non-drive side cup was totally seized from old corrosion. Ended up wrapping the crank arm with a tree branch to get enough leverage to break it free, has anyone else had to improvise like that mid-ride?

Ten minutes sounds about right, and I used a few choice words to help things along.

Nah, I gotta disagree a bit here. A crank arm's got a pretty solid shape to it, you can wedge a branch in there if you're careful. I think ten minutes is more like bragging time than actual time, probably closer to five or six once you get the angle right.

Holy crap, a tree branch? That's nuts. I can't believe you got enough grip on a crank arm with something that wasn't even metal. I've had to bodge stuff on the trail before but never that wild. You must have been twisting that thing for ten minutes straight.
