Had a night where my ASMR playlist just clicked perfectly
Last Tuesday I was exhausted after a 12 hour shift at the hospital in Portland. Usually my typical rain sounds make my mind wander, but I stumbled on a video of someone brushing a microphone with a soft paintbrush for 45 minutes. It was the first time in months I fell asleep before the video ended. Anyone else find a random video that just hits different one night?

I read somewhere that the brain reacts to those soft, close-up sounds like it's getting a gentle brain massage or something. That paintbrush video sounds perfect for after a long shift, those are the ones that really work when you are completely drained. There is a science thing I saw about how your brain kind of resets with that specific frequency of scratching and tapping. It is wild how one random video can be the magic ticket when all the usual stuff fails.

Paintbrush videos are a whole different level of weirdly satisfying though. lmao. My go-to when nothing else works is someone pretending to be a librarian checking my ears for overdue books, don't judge me. Must be that close-up personal attention vibe or something, because regular rain just makes me think about my leaky roof now.
