Kid flinched during a taper and I nicked his ear with the trimmer
Had a 7 year old in the chair last Thursday at my shop on Grand Ave, halfway through his fade he jerked his head when the clippers got near his ear and I caught the edge of it, tiny nick but he started crying. I stayed calm, cleaned it up, told his mom it was my fault and not to worry. Has anyone else dealt with a kid who won't sit still for the trimmer, and what do you say to the parent when it happens?
Sounds like you did everything right honestly, owning it with the mom goes a long way. But kids jerk their heads, it happens to every barber, and maybe the move is to just not stress so much about it, a tiny nick isn't the end of the world. Parents usually just want to know you care more than they want a perfect cut.
