Watched The Room and then Birdemic back to back, total game changer for my bad movie rankings

I used to think The Room was the king of so-bad-it's-good movies, but after a double feature last Saturday with Birdemic, I saw a clear before and after. The Room has this weird charm and quotable lines, but Birdemic's plot holes and terrible CGI birds made me laugh way harder over 2 hours. Now I'm ranking Birdemic as my number 1 disaster flick. Anyone else have a movie that totally shifted your bad movie tier list?

I read somewhere that Birdemic's director actually believed he made a masterpiece, which honestly makes it even funnier than The Room to me...

Wait, hold on. I gotta push back on that a little bit. From what I've seen in interviews, James Nguyen really does seem to think he made a serious environmental thriller, not a comedy. He talks about the movie like it's a meaningful message about climate change. The way he talks about the special effects and the acting, it's like he's completely unselfaware. Are you sure you're not mixing him up with someone else?

Oh man, that's actually a common myth! The director, James Nguyen, knows exactly what he's doing - he's a huge Hitchcock fan and made Birdemic as a deliberate throwback to cheesy 70s disaster flicks. He's in on the joke, even if the execution is gloriously terrible. Did you ever see his commentary track?
