Heard a guy at the theater say bad movies are better drunk. Tried it sober.
I overheard some dude in line for The Room say the only way to get through bad movies is with a buzz. So I watched Birdemic: Shock and Terror totally sober last week and honestly it was even funnier. Anyone else watch these sober or do you need liquid courage?

Read three hours of bad movie reviews on Reddit before I rented The Room and watched it stone cold sober. The guy behind the counter at the video store warned me it was a mistake. Did you find yourself laughing more at the bad acting or the terrible writing?

Man both, but the writing is worse honestly. How do you write a script where every single character talks like a robot who just learned English from a cereal box? "You are tearing me apart, Lisa!" sounds like a kid trying to act tough in a school play. The acting is terrible because the writing gives them nothing to work with. It's like watching a train wreck in slow motion where everyone's wearing the same tuxedo.

Wait, you watched it stone cold sober? That's like jumping into a frozen lake for fun, man. I made the mistake of watching it with friends and we were all drinking, which I think actually made it worse because we kept trying to find deeper meaning in lines like "I did not hit her, it's not true, it's bullshit, I did not hit her, I did not." That's not even writing, that's like a transcript of someone having a stroke. The acting is bad but at least the actors look like they're trying to remember their lines, while the writing sounds like someone just gave up and started typing whatever popped into their head. You're right about the robot thing too, it's like every character learned English from the same broken dictionary.
