Almost lost a group of friends after picking the wrong movie for our bad movie night in Portland

I grabbed The Room without checking the version and we got the dubbed one with terrible lip sync and nobody could stop laughing for all the wrong reasons, has anyone else had a bad movie pick totally backfire on them?

Dubbed version sounds like it could be a new tradition honestly.

Figure the dubbing probably adds to the so-bad-it's-good charm though.

Four out of the six people at my last bad movie night walked out during Santa Claus Conquers the Martians because the pacing was just too slow and boring. Did you at least have a backup plan ready, or were you stuck watching the whole dubbed thing while everyone kept glancing at their watches? I've found that with bad movie nights, you need a shortlist of three or four options so you can pivot fast when something flops. The dubbing might have saved it though, right? Like, was the lip sync so off that it became its own kind of unintentional comedy gold, or was it just annoying enough to kill the vibe completely? Genuinely curious how that played out after the first round of laughing died down.
