This cardinal has been tapping on my kitchen window for a week straight

It started last Tuesday morning, around 7:30 AM. I was making coffee and heard this little tap tap tap. I look over and there's a bright red male cardinal just sitting on the windowsill, pecking at the glass. He comes back every single day, sometimes two or three times. I thought maybe he was seeing his reflection and fighting it, but he doesn't seem angry, just curious. I even put a little feeder with sunflower seeds a few feet away on the deck railing, but he still comes to the window first. My neighbor, Mrs. Jenkins, said she had a robin do that once and it was because she had a potted plant with red berries right inside. I don't have any plants near that window though. Has anyone else had a bird get this fixated on a particular spot in their yard?

Could it be a tiny bug or spider web on the outside of the glass you can't see? They're really good at spotting that stuff... my window looked clean until I got up close and saw the tiny bugs.

Try the bug theory from morgan_black90.

I cleaned my lens with a microfiber cloth and checked for bugs. The spot is still there in the exact same place on every photo. It's definitely something inside the camera body.
