That crow at my feeder changed how I feed the whole yard...

There's this one big crow that started campin' out at my platform feeder in Durham about 3 weeks ago. He shooed away all the cardinals and chickadees I used to watch every morning. I finally moved the feeder up against my back fence instead of near the oak tree where he roosts. Now the little birds come back and the crow still visits but only picks up scraps on the ground. Has anyone else had to rearrange their setup just to get peace back in their own yard?

My neighbor in Raleigh had the same problem with blue jays. I see it differently though @bell.felix. The crow isn't the problem it's just doing what crows do. I actually made my feeder smaller and put it on a pole with a baffle. That way the little birds can still get in but the crow can't land on it. The crow sticks to the ground for scraps like you said and honestly it's kind of nice having both. Now I get the cardinals and chickadees up top and the crow cleans up the mess they make. It feels like everybody wins instead of fighting over one spot.

Haha yeah I literally built a whole separate feeding station under a little awning just for the tiny birds, like a VIP section. Meanwhile the crows get the cheap seats on the ground and still act like they own the place.

Think about it like life in general, right? We're always making these little deals and compromises just to keep the peace with whoever's being the most demanding. Like at my office, there's this one guy who blasts music from his cubicle, so people started wearing headphones or moving to the empty conference room instead of actually telling him to stop. Same thing with how my friend rearranged her whole living room furniture just because her cat decided the best sunbeam was on the couch she used to sit in. It's funny how we'll redesign our whole setup around one loud personality instead of just dealing with them head on.
