My tent pole snapped halfway up the Eagle Cap Wilderness loop
Honestly, it was the middle section of my old Kelty pole that gave out near Mirror Lake. I had to use some duct tape and a spare tent stake as a splint for the last two nights. Has anyone else had to MacGyver a fix for a broken pole on a longer route?

Duct tape and a tent stake is a classic field fix, good job. But is a snapped pole REALLY that big of a deal on a short trip? It sounds like you made it work just fine. Modern gear is so light it fails sometimes, that's just part of it. Carrying a small repair sleeve is smart, but getting bent out of shape over a single pole seems like overkill. You finished the hike, right? That's what actually matters.

Saw a post last week where a snapped pole turned a simple overnight into a real mess when the weather turned. @jamie770 makes a fair point about making it work, but a small failure can snowball fast, right?
