Property tax hike in our town is pure greed

The city council just approved a 10% increase in property taxes. They say it's for school funding, but I see no better books or buildings. This just adds to the load for folks paying mortgages. It looks like they want more money without real help for us.

But from another angle, that tax money might pay for important things we don't always see. My school district used similar increases to fix old heating systems and hire more classroom aides. Without it, we would face larger class sizes and constant repair issues. This isn't greed, it's about keeping basic services running as prices rise.

Request a detailed breakdown of the school budget from the city website. I did that when our taxes went up last year, and it showed money going to replace old playground equipment and pay for special needs programs. You might not see new books right away, but these things matter. Why not ask for a public hearing if you're still unsure? Sometimes they use funds for stuff like teacher salaries or building repairs that aren't flashy but keep things running. Keep pushing for answers until you see the direct impact.
