Pro tip: the envelope budget beat the app for me, and I'm still shocked
Tried three different budgeting apps for about 4 months and kept forgetting to log stuff, then switched to plain envelopes with $200 cash for groceries per paycheck. Having to physically hand over bills made me way more careful, like I actually put back a $9 thing of fancy cheese last Tuesday because the envelope was getting thin. How long did it take you to actually stick with a budget system, or am I just weird with apps?
How long did it take before the cash thing stopped feeling like a hassle? For me the first month or two was rough because I'd forget to hit the ATM and end up using my card anyway. Once I started pulling the cash the same day I got paid it clicked. Apps are too easy to ignore, handing over actual bills stings in a good way.
