Pro tip: that comment about my tracking spreadsheet changed everything

A guy in the Babble Finance forum told me I was overcomplicating my expense tracking with 12 columns. He said just track income, fixed costs, and variable spending - three columns max. Has anyone else simplified their system and seen better results?
