That weird noise on a 2016 Civic turned out to be a loose splash shield

Customer came in complaining of a rattling sound from the front end at low speeds. I spent way too long checking suspension components before I finally put it on the lift. The plastic splash shield behind the front bumper had lost two of its push clips, letting it flap against the subframe. I replaced them with some Dorman 713-301 clips from my kit, and the noise was gone in five minutes. Anyone else get tricked by something that simple before?

Honestly, I was the exact same way for the longest time. I would get totally stuck trying to make everything perfect. Then I read something about just getting the first draft out, no matter how messy it is. It sounds simple, but it really flipped a switch for me. Now I just word-vomit onto the page and clean it up later, which is way faster.

Yeah, I read a whole forum thread about that exact noise.
