I dropped $80 on a cheap star tracker that couldn't even handle my basic DSLR.
The motor was so weak it shook during 30-second exposures, ruining every shot. Has anyone found a decent budget tracker that actually works?

That "cheap star tracker" problem is so real. You really do get what you pay for in this hobby. Have you looked into used iOptron Skyguiders?

Totally agree on the used gear idea. Those cheap trackers are basically just paperweights that eat batteries. Saving up is smart, but hunting for a good used one can cut the wait in half. Just make sure you check the motor and polar scope before buying. A lot of people sell them after one try when they realize the hobby needs patience.

Honestly, is there anything more frustrating than a tracker that can't track? @martinez.kim knows the pain. My last cheap one just spun in sad little circles. Guess I'm saving up for something that actually works.
