I finally asked my boss for a raise after my project saved the company $12,000

I was in our quarterly review meeting in Denver when my manager brought up the budget report. I pointed out how my process changes on the inventory system cut costs by that exact amount over six months. He agreed it was a solid case and said he'd take it to HR next week. Has anyone else had luck getting a raise by showing specific numbers like that?

Used to think just putting in the hours was enough. Watched a guy at my old job track his fuel savings from a new route plan, showed the boss the exact dollar amount. Got his raise the next month. Numbers cut through the talk. Your approach is the right one.

Reminds me of a guy who tracked coffee waste savings... got a new chair out of it.

How many people just hope their work gets noticed? That story is so real. I saw the same thing happen with a girl who tracked how much faster her new filing system was. She showed the boss she saved like 20 hours a month. It's like you have to translate your work into money or time for them to finally see it.
