Had to choose between a full dig and a core sample at the new site near Tucson

We went with the core sample to save time, and it showed a clear stratigraphy layer from the 1600s. Anyone else ever had to make that kind of call on a tight schedule?

Disagree on saving time with a core sample. A full dig gives you the full story, even if it takes longer. You miss so much context just going straight down.

Honestly I used to agree with you! But seeing the full stratigraphy from a core sample last month totally changed my mind.
