Can we talk about how air spading is not just an overpriced hose
I thought air spading was a gimmick for rich homeowners until we used one on a 60 year old sugar maple on a job in Grand Rapids last spring. The client wanted to fix compaction around the root flare and my old boss kept saying a digging fork does the same thing. We ran the AirSpade for about 40 minutes and found girdling roots at 8 inches deep that we would have cut straight through with a shovel. Two years later that tree has put on more growth than the one next to it that we did by hand. The tool costs real money and it is slow, but the roots come out looking like they were never touched. Anybody else seeing better results with air tools over hand digging on root collar work?
