TIL most repair calls are for fridges built after 2010, not old ones

I was reading through a trade report from Appliance Repair Magazine last month and found out that 68 percent of service calls in 2024 were for units less than 8 years old. I always thought old fridges from the 90s broke down way more often with their simple parts. But newer models with circuit boards and sensors seem to fail way earlier. Do you guys see more calls for newer or older appliances in your area?

I remember seeing that same report and it kinda blew my mind too. I always figured those old heavy fridges from the 90s would be the ones dying constantly but I guess the new ones just have way more stuff to go wrong.

Same here man, it's honestly depressing how fast these new ones crap out.

Bet they're designed to break right when the warranty expires, huh.
