Threw $150 down the drain on a used control board last month

Found a deal on a used main control board for a Whirlpool duet washer on eBay. Seller claimed it was tested and working. Slapped it in a customer's machine, fired it up, and it immediately let the smoke out. $150 gone in about 5 seconds. Has anyone else had bad luck buying used boards online or do I just need to vet sellers harder?

Stick to sellers with a return policy that covers DOA parts, and test the board on a cheap donor machine first before putting it in a customer's unit. Saves you the headache and the cash.

Exactly what I do now after getting burned on a bad board once. Buy a cheap junker laptop to test parts on before they go near a paid repair.
