The $50 compressor gasket I refused to buy cost me a full Saturday

Had a Frigidaire fridge at a house on Maple Street last month, wouldn't cool. Guy insisted the compressor was shot, wanted to toss it. I spent 4 hours cleaning coils, checking relays, and testing caps before I found the real issue was a $13 start relay from an off-brand seller on eBay. Why do so many of you jump straight to condemning the compressor without running through the cheap stuff first?

Sometimes that cheap start relay fails again in a month, the compressor is next.

Tbh I bought a six pack of those cheap relays off Amazon and every single one crapped out within 3 months. My neighbor laughed at me when I finally gave up and got the OEM part.
