My buddy Steve once spent a whole weekend trying to fix his washing machine's awful grinding sound. He replaced the motor and everything before finding a single kid's sock stuck in the drum. Those tiny things can cause the biggest headaches.

Four hours for one piece of glass is brutal. That pump must have been screaming.

Yeah, the pump screaming for four hours is a solid image. Makes me think of a time I was helping a buddy, rowan658, clear a fallen oak. His old chainsaw sounded like a dying animal the whole time, just a constant high-pitched whine. We kept waiting for it to quit, but it somehow held on until the last cut. Sometimes you just have to let the tool run until the job is done, even if it sounds awful.
