Spent 4 hours chasing a phantom error code on a 3 year old refrigerator
Got a call about a fridge not cooling. The display showed an open door warning but the door was shut tight. I checked the hinges, the wiring, even replaced the door switch. Nothing worked. Turns out a spider had built a web inside the control board connector and it was messing with the signal. Four hours for a $0.15 fix. Has anyone else dealt with a bug or pest causing a weird error like that?

It's almost always the tiny, stupid thing you ignore first that bites you.

4 hours for a $0.15 fix" - I spent a whole afternoon once chasing a phantom error on a washing machine that turned out to be a dead moth shorting out a relay. Guess I'm the one who needs to check for creepy crawlies first.

At least the moth was dead. I'd be more embarrassed if it was still alive and just giving me the side-eye.
