Rant: How I used to binge whole seasons in one night vs now I can barely finish an episode
Back in 2018 I would crush 12 episodes of anime in a single sitting no problem. Now I get through maybe 3 episodes a week if I'm lucky. The change happened around 2021 when I started working from home and my attention span just tanked. I blame the constant phone checking during slow scenes. Last month I tried watching a new mecha show and paused it 5 times to scroll Twitter. Anyone else finding it harder to sit still for anime these days?

Man that sounds exactly like what happened to me... I started putting my phone in another room while watching and it helped a ton at first. Tried watching shorter episodes too, like 15 minute stuff instead of full length anime. Turned off all notifications on my laptop during shows which made a big difference. Also started watching with a friend over Discord so we could talk about what was happening, that kept me from zoning out. Now I can get through 4 or 5 episodes again without needing a break.

4 episodes is like 80 minutes of sitting there watching a screen. that doesnt sound like something to celebrate honestly. i mean we all zone out sometimes but acting like putting your phone away is some huge breakthrough seems dramatic. if you cant sit through a show without your phone maybe the show is the problem not your attention span lol
