Update: found a shoebox of undeveloped film in my grandma's closet in Tulsa and the light leak told me more than the photos did
I was cleaning out my grandma's house in Tulsa last month and found a shoebox with 6 rolls of film she shot sometime around 1978, all still rolled up and never developed. I sent them to a lab and most came back with a big orange streak down the side from a light leak in her old camera, but instead of being bummed I realized the leak is like a fingerprint of that exact camera she used. Has anyone else developed old family film and gotten a surprise like that, where the mistake ended up being the best part of the roll?
That orange streak is honestly way cooler than a clean shot would've been. My mom gave me a roll from my dad's old point and shoot years back and half the pics came out hazy, but that blur is the only proof of the cheap lens he carried around. Sorry about your grandma, but you got something real from her camera that nobody else has.
