That $3 thrift store knife sharpener actually wrecked my chef's edge

Bought a cheap pull-through sharpener from Goodwill in Austin last weekend and tested it on my old Wusthof - it took off way more metal than I expected and now the blade's got a wavy edge, has anyone else had luck fixing that with a whetstone?

Jake's right about the factory angle being gone, but you can definitely fix that wavy edge with a whetstone if you take your time and start with a coarse grit.

That cheap sharpener probably ruined the factory angle.
