Fixing a squeaky floorboard in my kitchen took 4 hours for what YouTube said was a 20 minute job

I mean, in my defense I have old hardwood floors from the 1920s so nothing is ever actually square. I bought that special kit with the snap-off screws and everything. First screw just would not go in, snapped off halfway. Then I realized the floorboard was nailed down not screwed in. Had to go back to the hardware store for a nail punch. Then the squeak moved to a different spot. Has anyone else run into a project where every step revealed a new problem?

Did you try the other side of the board or just keep hammering at it?

Literally keep hammering at it until it breaks or I figure it out. That's the ONLY way I learn honestly. I'll mess with one side for HOURS before even considering there's a different approach. Sometimes you just gotta brute force your way through a problem.
