PSA: The new smart doorbell from that big brand is a real pain to wire into an old system.

Last week in a 1980s house in Bakersfield, I spent three hours trying to get the chime to work with their original panel. The voltage was just off enough that the new unit kept going into a boot loop. Has anyone found a good step-down adapter that actually works for this?

It's wild how often new tech just assumes your whole house is modern. I ran into the same voltage mismatch with a smart thermostat last winter. Feels like companies forget that most of us don't live in brand new builds.

What step-down adapter did you end up using that worked?

Thought they were a waste until my old furnace died.
