Had a crazy day with a system in a 100 year old house downtown

Every single wire run turned into a puzzle because of the old plaster walls and weird framing. I ended up using a 24 inch flex bit and a ton of patience to get from the basement to the attic. Anyone else have a go-to trick for those old, solid wall houses?

Ever try fishing wire through those old metal conduits? @miles_garcia is right about the prep being its own fight, I spent a whole day just clearing decades of dust and cobwebs out of one pipe. Sometimes the old path is more trouble than it's worth, so I feel your pain with the flex bit.

Heard a buddy got so fed up with a similar house he just ran all the low voltage in crown molding he added. Said it was easier than fighting the walls.

Tried that crown molding trick for speaker wire in my old place. Worked great until I hit a corner and had to cut the molding at a weird angle. Honestly, @bennett.jana, sometimes the prep for that trim is its own kind of fight. I ended up using flat cable and just tucking it under the baseboard in a few spots, which was way less hassle for me.
