Shoutout to the old guy at the hangar who showed me the trick with the safety wire
I kept seeing people twist it way too tight, which can actually crack the bolt head. He showed me to stop when you get three twists per inch, no more. Anyone else have a specific number they aim for on different jobs?

My old foreman insisted on two twists per inch.

Mine swore by three, said two was for amateurs.

Oh that's so true, it's like the unspoken rules for everything. My barber has a whole thing about how many passes with the clippers, and my mechanic friend argues over torque specs. It's that weird expert pride in tiny details. Like @faith_king's foreman with his two twists, it becomes gospel. You just nod and accept it as law, even if the next guy says the complete opposite.
