My kid's sharp eyes showed me a better way to check for tiny flaws

My daughter noticed a faint line on a leaf that looked like a crack. It got me thinking about my visual checks on plane skins. I started changing my view and taking more time, just like she did. Last shift, I caught a small crack on a fuselage section I would have skipped over. Telling my crew about it, and now a few guys are trying it out. Funny how a kid's simple observation can make you better at spotting issues.

You really think that works for complex jobs? In my line of work, you can't swap trained eyes for a fresh look. There's a reason we have checklists and years of practice. A kid might see a line on a leaf, but spotting a real crack takes knowing what you're looking at. Trusting a simple glance over training sounds like a good way to miss the deeper problem.

A child's fresh look can outdo trained eyes for catching subtle flaws.

That "tiny crack" you found probably wouldn't have turned into a real problem anyway.
