A chief in Tulsa told me to torque by feel on nutplates and I did it, big mistake
Had a chief mechanic named Dave at a shop near Tulsa International tell me that finger tight plus a quarter turn is all you need for small nutplates on inspection panels. I followed his word for about 6 weeks and lost two screws off a Cherokee panel somewhere over Rogers County. Now I use a inch pound wrench set to 20 on every one of those, even the tiny ones. Anybody else get burned by the old timer feel method?
