Vent: My air fryer basket coating started flaking off after 4 months
Pulled out my air fryer last night to make some wings and noticed little black flakes all over the food. Looked closer and the nonstick coating on the basket is peeling bad. I only got this thing back in March. Washed it by hand every time, never used metal utensils on it. Researched online and seems like this is a common issue with cheaper models. Now I'm stuck deciding if I should just buy a replacement basket or shell out for a better brand. Anyone else dealt with flaking coating? What did you switch to?

Exact same thing happened to my Gourmia after like 5 months. Those black specks show up on everything once it starts peeling. Had to toss a whole batch of fries because I didn't notice until after they were cooked. Switched to a Ninja with metal basket inserts, no coating to worry about. Been a year now, still looks brand new.

My buddy Mark got a Gourmia air fryer for Christmas last year. By March he was finding those same black flakes in his food. He didn't notice until his kid ate a whole chicken nugget covered in them. Called him freaking out thinking it was mold or something. I told him to check the basket and sure enough the coating was peeling off like crazy. He threw the whole thing out and bought a Cosori with bare metal trays instead.

Dude same thing happened to me with my Gourmia, those black specks are terrifying when you first spot them. I was so grossed out I threw the whole thing in the trash and got a cheap basket-style one from Walmart that's been totally fine.
