The Tuesday I found a 50-pound bag of grubs in my truck bed at 2 AM
I was dead tired after a 12-hour day landscaping, and I crawled into my truck around midnight to grab my phone charger. That's when I saw it: a whole 50-pound bag of grub killer that must have slid out of a client's garage and into my truck bed. I spent the next hour driving it back to their house and leaving it by their side gate, which felt ridiculous but also oddly satisfying. The week itself was a mess of broken sprinklers and one client who changed their mind three times on where to put a rose bush. But that weird midnight grub run actually made me laugh, and I called the client the next morning to explain. She thought it was hilarious and tipped me 40 bucks for the trouble. Has anyone else found something totally random in your work vehicle after a long day?

You're framing this like some wholesome little adventure, but lets be real here. That bag of grub killer couldve been anybody's liability. What if that client had a different sense of humor and called the cops on you for trespassing on their property at 2 AM? And driving back exhausted after a 12 hour shift, thats just asking for a crash or a ticket. Not to mention, that 40 dollar tip is barely minimum wage when you factor in gas and the hour you wasted. Honestly, you got lucky this time, but the whole setup sounds like poor boundaries and bad risk management dressed up as a funny story.

Double down on that point about the tip being barely minimum wage. After gas and wear and tear, that 40 bucks probably netted them like 15 dollars for an hour of extra work and risk.

This whole thing only worked out because the universe felt like being nice that night, not because it was a smart move. One wrong cop pulling them over for a broken taillight or a neighbor calling in a suspicious vehicle and this cute story turns into a whole different kind of post.
