Stumbled on a photo of my old dorm room from 2012

Found a picture on my old laptop at 2 AM - my entire room setup was a laptop on a milk crate and a mattress on the floor. Fast forward to now and I've got a standing desk, monitor arms, and a robot vacuum, what happened in 12 years to make me so soft?

Tbh it's just life slowly grinding the edge off all of us.

...and man does that hit hard. I feel like I used to have so much more spark, you know? Like things used to feel new and exciting, now it's just the same stuff over and over. It's not even that anything terrible happened, just a million tiny things wearing it all down. Hope you're holding up okay, it's rough out there for a lot of us.

Honestly, "life slowly grinding the edge off all of us" really gets it. I used to camp on a concrete floor for fun and now I get annoyed if my mattress is too firm.
